Principal Wheeler's Weekly Update

Hello Lafayette Families,

I hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather over the weekend – it’s finally starting to feel more like fall, and I couldn't be more excited!

Students, we encourage you to wear teal this Tuesday, September 10, in recognition of World Suicide Prevention Day. Let’s show our support and raise awareness for this important cause.

Families, please check your child's backpack tomorrow for their interim report. Take some time to review it with them, and if you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher.

September is Attendance Awareness Month, and we truly appreciate your efforts in ensuring your children attend school regularly when they are healthy. Consistent attendance is vital for building strong relationships and maintaining academic progress. Students are considered chronically absent when they miss 18 or more days in a 180-day school year, which is roughly 2-3 days per month. Let’s work together to help our students succeed by ensuring they’re present and engaged. Attendance Notes

Don't miss out on an important opportunity! Registration closes soon for our special viewing of “What I Wish My Parents Knew” on Tuesday, September 17, at 5:30pm. This eye-opening film, part of the “Tell My Story” mental wellness program, is designed to help parents better understand how to support their children’s mental health.

Please note, this is an adults-only event, and no children will be admitted. Refreshments will be available starting at 5:00pm. Registration closes on Tuesday, September 11, at noon, so be sure to sign up here: Registration Link
