Principal Wheeler's Weekly Update

Good evening, Lafayette Families,

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend and feeling excited for the upcoming holidays! As we approach the Thanksgiving break, I want to share a few important updates and reminders.

With this being our last full week of school before the Thanksgiving holiday, there will not be a Sunay message or newsletter next Sunday, November 24. We hope you enjoy a restful Thanksgiving break with time spent surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones. Weekly updates and newsletter will resume on Sunday, December 1.

As a reminder, consistent attendance and on-time arrival are vital to student success. Being at school on time helps students start the day ready to learn and participate fully in classroom activities. If your student is going to be absent, please communicate with the school promptly so we can work together to support their learning. Your partnership in this area is greatly appreciated!

Attendance Notes

We are excited for our annual Turkey Trot Fun Run this Tuesday! Please not some updates to the attendee process:

  • All attendees must sign in at the top of the hill near the designated area and will receive a Fun Run Sticker.

  • All attendees must remain in the designated area during the event and are not permitted to leave this area to visit with students.

  • Cheer loudly and show your support from the designated area—we love your enthusiasm and cooperation!

Thank you for helping us ensure a safe and enjoyable event for everyone.

It’s not too late to submit your suggestion for the new Gladys West Elementary School mascot, opening in August 2025! The survey link can be found on our school and division websites. The deadline to submit your suggestion is this Wednesday, November 20. We look forward to hearing your creative ideas!
