We’re thrilled to introduce Jessica Staples, our newest addition to the teaching staff! Jessica is a proud graduate of James Monroe High School, Class of '94. Originally from California, she’s made a new home here in Virginia but still proudly supports her Bay Area teams—Go Giants and Niners!
When she’s not in the classroom, Jessica enjoys spending quality time with her family and her adorable pups. She also loves vacationing in Duck on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. This summer, she embarked on an exciting road trip to Maine for the very first time. Jessica had the chance to explore several beautiful lighthouses along the Maine coast and take in the breathtaking views at Acadia National Park. One of her favorite moments was capturing the stunning view from the top of Cadillac Mountain, the highest point on the eastern seaboard.
Please join us in giving Jessica a warm welcome and getting to know her as she brings her enthusiasm and diverse experiences to our school community. We’re excited to have her on board!

Off, Yondr, & Away – isn’t just a catchy saying. Cell phones and personal communication devices (PCDs) are no longer welcome during school instructional time. Why? We’re focusing on learning, building social skills, and improving mental health. But what happens when phones are not Off, Yondr, & Away? Read more by visiting our FCPS Cell Phones webpage. This week's Motivational Monday quote, handpicked by Ms. Michelle Young, is a gem from Brook Shields: "Don't waste a minute not being happy. If one window closes, run to the next window or break down a door."
Let's embrace this powerful reminder to seize every moment with joy and resilience! Whether faced with challenges or opportunities, let's keep pushing forward with positivity and determination! #MotivationalMonday #SeizeTheMoment #Resilience

Flashback Friday! Let's take a trip down memory lane and revisit some of the incredible moments DECA brought us this year! From District 18 Officer Training, where our officers were installed, engaged in leadership workshops, and had a blast with arcade games, to the unforgettable experience of competing, networking, and attending workshops at the international DECA competition in Anaheim, California - it's been a year to remember!
Let's not forget how they showed up to cheer on JM Basketball in Norfolk this year.
Congratulations to our DECA superstars on their phenomenal achievements! Keep shining bright! #DECAStars #FlashbackFriday #DECAExcellence #SupportingOthers
