Last week, some of our students embarked on an incredible learning adventure in Abingdon, VA. They explored the campuses of Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center and Virginia Highlands Community College, participated in hands-on laboratory rotations, and observed a cadaver using the cutting-edge Anatomage Table. The trip wasn’t all work, though! Students enjoyed the dazzling Bristol Speedway Lights Show, shared breakfast at the hotel, and savored a delicious Chick-fil-A lunch provided by the Governor’s School. We’re so proud of their dedication and excitement during this unforgettable experience! #FutureLeaders #HandsOnLearning #GovernorsSchool

Feeling all the feels today? You are not alone! It’s common to experience multiple emotions at once. We often try to simplify our emotions into just one feeling, but emotions are complex and can be contradictory. Take a deep breath and acknowledge all the emotions you are feeling right now. Are you feeling: ‣Anxious and happy? ‣Confused and grateful? ‣Angry and silly? Allow yourself to feel all the emotions, even if they seem to be total opposites. You can feel multiple things at once and that’s okay! Not sure what emotions you are feeling but want to talk to someone about it? At home, you can talk to a trusted adult, friend, or sibling. At school, you can talk to your teacher, school counselor, or principal. Share with us in the comments below what emotions you are feeling today. Let’s normalize the complexity of feeling many emotions together!

Exciting news from James Monroe! Please join us in celebrating eight outstanding teachers, including one RISE educator, who have successfully completed the Graduated Assistance Program through our partnership with UMW. This program empowers third-year teachers to collaborate with UMW instructional supervisors, reflecting on their practices and driving professional growth. Ms. Cuevas-Orlando, Mr. Hanks, Mr. Brown, Mr. Torres, Mr. Ferrara, Ms. Morrison, Ms. Shah, and Mr. Thibeault began their journey by identifying areas of focus within their classrooms. Yesterday, they proudly presented their professional goals, the strategies they implemented, and the impactful results they achieved. It’s truly inspiring to witness the growth of our educators and the innovative approaches they bring to their classrooms. We encourage everyone to reach out to these teachers and learn more about their areas of focus—what they’re doing is shaping the future of education here at JM! #Teachers #Growth #UMW #JM

Yesterday, 29 students who’ve been in the U.S. for three years or less explored the University of Mary Washington! They enjoyed a scavenger hunt in the Modern Languages building, discovering the professors’ diverse languages and countries of origin. They toured the campus, met Spanish learners, and shared lunch at the dining hall. Students bonded in both their home languages and English, making new friends along the way. Huge thanks to Ms. Loos and Ms. Young for making this memorable experience happen! #UMWVisit #LanguageLearners #BuildingConnections
